I created this piece to celebrate my dad’s birthday.  I used the digital drawing program Sketchbook to create it.

Inspiration:

I was inspired by the Northern Baroque art movement and aimed to create a painterly appearance with this piece.  I especially wanted to capture the effects of light as it falls on the different surfaces.

Creation:

To convey different materials, I used soft, red shading on the skin for subsurface scattering and sharper highlights on the icing for a shiny, sugary look.
